Mr Thos S Claybrook

Dr. Sir – Margaret, a colored woman
on Mr John Claybrooks farm, informed us that
Roxanana, a colored woman on your place, is in
the habit of j [struck-through] coming over to your brothers place,.
and abusing the negroes thereon, accusing them of
stealing au [struck-through] and trying to get up difficulties.  Peace
in a neighborhood is a beautiful [struck-through] blessing to any
people.  Contention and strife should be frowned
down, as productive of much evil.  Knowing that
these are your sentiments, I ask you to warn the col-
ored people on you place of the consequences of such
conduct.  They are now answerable to law, and may have
to suffer for [struck-through] as disturbers of the peace, and for sharing
things that they may not be able to prove.  They had
better not visit Mr. John Claybrooks farm, unless they
can do so as friends & neighbors.

    Respectfully    P. M. Neal
