                                                                                                Dec. 11 / 61

My dear Cousin Nina

I am sorry that I cannot pay you a second visit and thank you in person for the very nice cap which you kindly have taken the trouble to make for me.  I am very much obliged to you for it and shall value it highly for the donor's sake as well as the comfort I hope to derive from it this winter.  I determined a few days ago not to stay out of camp much longer and am now only awaiting uncle williams return from Centreville - He will be back to day or to morrow and I will set off for camp Saturday - I am not as strong as formerly but hope to regain my strength in the proformance of duty.  Am very sorry that I did not see Charlie when he was down.  I got to Locust Hill the morning he left and did not even meet him.  Have spent most of my time here - Ma has gotten here at last.  Give much love to all and believe me ever your affectionate
