The Evening was beautiful, the Bell of the Village tolled, & converted the whole Country round into a Temple, & feelings Equally connected with sadness & with happiness glistend in the Eyes of my loved Boy--alas his ductile ^ addition mind /addition impressive as wax, & ^ addition his /addition sensitive heart alive to all emotions was overcome, & he almost knelt in underline adoration & love /underline of his gt Creator.

Oh that I were as great as in my greif Or lesser than my name! or that I could Forget what I have been! & not remember What I must be now.--

But then he sighs, & with a peice of scripture tells them, that God bids us do good for Evil: & thus he clothes his naked villainy with old odd ends Stolen from holy Writ, & seems a Saint when He most plays the devil.--
