April 15th 1862

In camp near Warwick Court House
Dear Brother,
Your letter dated the 8th was just received by me
and as you say there was a rumer in the news papers
that our troops was verry near Yorktown. I thought
you would feal anxious about me. I take this opp-
etunity of wnswering your letter ameagertly. If thear
has been eny fighting at Yorktown up to this
date it is more than I have heard of. We are stationed
at a place called Warwick Court house within
3 miles of Yorktown. The rebels I do
not believe have a verry large force hear and what
is hear I do not think they will make much of a
stand, but this thing I know we will half to
fight them to a disedvantage as they have breast-
work after breastwork what they have throne
up as for meating us in the open field that they
will never do.  The enemy is within talking distance
to us so you can judge how close they are to us.
