Island Hospital  Sept 25th 1862
    Dear Ma,
It with pleasure that I take my pen in
hand to let you know that I have allmost
recovered from my sickness, but how soon
they will send me to my regiment I cannot
tell, but I do not think I will go in some
time yet. I received your letter and I assure
you I was glad to hear from you. I got the
shirts you sent me and assure you I
am much obliged to you for them allso
to Ann Louisa. I have not seen eney body
from the city since I have been hear
of my erquartence since I came back
from my pass which was the 19th . I did not
see Pa, but he was to the house the day
I came from Sing Sing. I will tell you
how I missed him. I arrived in the city
all right and went to Phickes when I
found that they had all went to see
John so I strarted down to his encampment.
