Miss N. L. Powell
You have been suggested
to me by my friend Rev. Mr. Peter King [?]
as a suitable person to take
charge of a few children
for the ensuing year – I have
three children - a daughter eleven
& two boys 13 & 14 yrs of age –
neither have studied Latin
or Greek – There are several
children in the neighborhood
who would be glad to avail
themselves of the school
so that the number might
be increased to eight –
I reside about 25 miles
from Richd near the
Central R. Road – Our
neighborhood is a very good
one, & a residence here
would be pleasant I have
no doubt
[2]
We had intended to procure
the services of a gentleman
but I believe it to be as well,
perhaps better, to have a female
if we can get one with the
requisite qualifications.
If you think such a position
would be agreeable to you
I would be glad to hear from
you as to the branches you
propose to teach, with Music,
& the term on which you
would be willing to undertake
the school, if it consisted of
my three, or of say about eight.
As I am anxious to make my
arrangement as early as possible,
your attention is requested as soon
as you can give it – Very truly
PS – We could
dispense with
