Sept. 14th. 1864

T. W. Claybrooke,

    Dear sir I
send you one  Hundred dollars
in Confederate money to pay
the note you hold against me.
I hate very mutch to ask you
to take it.  But necesity Requires
it of me.  I am in the war and
that is all the kind of money
I get for my servises.  Besides
my life is exsposed and evry
thing I have at Home is going to de-
-struction.  You are at Home and
a good Confederate man and able
to take it consequently I think
you ought to take it and give up
my note  to my wife.  The money
I send is new issue.  There is no –
dis count on it.  I have no news
of importance to write.  I am
well.  Write to me soon.  I must
close.  The command is starting.
Yours Respectfully, Thos. F. Conyer
