Dear Coz
Your kind letter came to
hand on Sunday last and I have
seen all the coal venders in the City.
Much to my regret & I suppose a great
deal more to yours, I have to inform
you the article [cant?] be had for love or
money. We have just bought our supply
of bitumenous coal for the winter.
That can be had for $550 for 25 Bushels
and if you wish to lay [in?] [on?] your supply
you had better do so as soon as possible
for the price is advancing daily.
I should like to know who the
charming individual is that wishes to know
when the charming Mr Lambert is coming
back. It certainly cannot be a Gentleman
& consequently must be a Lady. If she is one
of the sweet, pretty, & agreeable young Ladies
that I met at your house, Tell her for me
that "[Backis?] is willing" and as I am now
[?] [?] of Artillery and in all probability
will be ordered to the neighborhood of Wmsburg
I will most assuredly call on her in person
& tell her what I think of Her. Tell her also
I don't care for riches if she promises to behave
herself. Your aff Cousin
[D?] Lambert
