My dearest Son. At my return from the Play last Night I found Yr Letter & consequently was under the Necessity of keeping the Servant till this Morning. _ I am truely Sorry to find that the Invitation of the Princess to My Fête should anoy You so much as to look upon it as a Personal Affront to You which it never underline could /underline be meant to be. You will recollect that Upon Yr Sisters Marriage which was also Public, She was invited, & since that event I have deletion given /deletion had underline no other Fêtes /underline but those given during the Time of the Camps, at which None, but those of the Royal Family then at Windsor were present, the Duke of Glocester His Son & Daughter being excluded at that Time purposely not to shew any Affront to the Princess, underline as You Yourself wished the Princess always to be treated with Civility.
