Tax was laid upon Exportation, the Dutch & French consequently bought English Coals Cheaper than many of the Natives could.

The 4th. Act continued the 5th. Act of the 6th. & 7th. of William & Mary Chap.7. to May 1701. & applied the Duty to the same purpose.

The 5th. Act continued the Tonnage & Poundage of the last Session Chap.23. for the King's life to make good with the other Branches of the Revenue formerly appropriated for that purpose, a Civil List of £700.000. with proviso that if the Civil List Duties produced more than that Yearly Sum the overplus was to be at the disposal of Parliament & at the time no provision was made for defficiencies.

By the 7th. Act further Duties are laid on Vellum, Parchment & Paper to continue for ever from the 1st. of August 1698.

By the 8th. Act the Duties granted upon Hawkers & c. Chap.24. of last Session was continued to
