My Dear old Uncle -
                   I arrived here
last night & went to see Cousin David this morning
in regard to Tom - He says that Tom is now hired
out in Richmond, but he thinks of making some
further arrangement, at present he will be hired
monthly. He has a considerable sum of money for
you, how much I do not know, some on last year's
account & some on the present year's. He says that
since the hundred dollars which he sent you was
lost, he has been afraid to trust any more, unless
he could send it by some person who could be
responsible in case the money was lost - Cousin James
Murray intends visiting Suffolk soon & he says he
will try & send it by him - I wrote to Uncle Eudu
this morning & stated your situation as near as

near as I could. telling him your earnest
desire to see him - If he comes on Sister will probably
go to Suffolk with him - I explained as well as
I possibly could the urgency of your case & have no
doubt that Uncle Euclid will be with you soon -
I shall return to camp this evening & will let you
hear from me occasionally - Sister writes you at
the same time, so there is no need of my saying,
more, Tell Miss Betsy I will write to her as soon
as I arrive in camp. Sister sends best love to Miss Betsy
With my earnest wishes for your health & prosperity &
with the hope that we may all live to see our country
blessed with peace & be united again in the family
circle. I remain your affectionate Son
