Structure, these indications should prove insufficient to declare, of if these sanction thro' ye. weakness or wickedness of men, should be of too little weight to enforce obedience to ye. Divine Will, & ye. Deity should please to add new indications or sanctions; these deletion fresh /deletion indications or Sanctions by ye. Assentors or this scheme are not suppos'd to add any new Moral Obligation; but only a leaner declaration of our duty, or a unclear sanction or Motive from interest to perform yt .duty, & to fulfil yt. Obligation, to which before we were bound. It makes no difference as to ye. obligation whether ye. will of ye. creator is declar'd by word, writ, or by ye. inward determination of our own minds, arising according to a necessary Law of nature.

According to whichever of these unclear we suppose ye. divine will intimated to us, ye. 1st question yt. naturally occurs is, why we are oblig'd to obey ye. Divine Will? if we are answer'd yt. he is our superior, & can reward & punish us; this is making obligation nothing but interest. If we say he is our Creator, & Benefactor, & yt. We ought to obey deletion him /deletion, & be grateful to him, this infer ye. obligation to an inward perception, yt. obedience is due to one's Creator, & gratitude to one's Benefactor. How can we otherwise connect those Relations unless we recur to ye. principle of Self interest? If Duty & Moral obligation ^ addition are /addition too weak when built on Moral perception to bind us, 'tis to be fear'd yt. ye. same objection will be made to ye. Sanctions & indications of ye. Divine Will they having as yet not produc'd a thorough & Universal Reformation.
