May it please your Lordships
I have considered the annexed Petition of Arnold Thompson praying your Lordships to grant him a Lease of a Messuage situate within the Ditch of Windsor Castle for such term & under such Rent as your Lordships shall seem meek.
The said House as I am informed was built about the year 1692 by an Arnold Thompson (Grandfather of the Petitioner as is alleged by virtue of some Licence or Grant made to him from Henry Duke of Norfolk then Governor of~ Windsor Castle for a term of 29 years which expired in the year 1721. The said Arnold Thompson by his will duly proved the 27th. of October 1721, devised the said House to his wife for Life and afterher decease to his Daughter Eliz. Thompson and her Assigns for Ever But if his daughter should die without issue, then he gave it to his three youngest Daughters Sarah Fortune and Jane share and share alike. On the Death of the widow the said Elizabeth Thompson entered thereon~ pursuant to her ffathers will and held the same till her death which happened in the year 1739, unmarried and without issue having first made her will bearing date the 12th of August 1739 and after some unclear Legacies gave the rest of her Estate Messuages Tenements and ground to her sister Sarah Thompson her heirs and assigns forever, and made her sole Executrix who entered on the said House and enjoyed the same deserving her Life and about the Month of June 1741 she died leaving just made her will dated the 27th. of March 1740. And thereby bequeathed to her sister Jane Smith her Moiety of the said house during her Life and directed her Ex'ors to sell the said Moiety, and devised the money arising by such Sale to her Nephews Thomas, Arnold and George Trinchett and her nieces Mary catchword and [[/catchword]
