Dear William

Before my departure for Windsor I have this letter in the hands of Major Gen. de Budé who is to set off for Portsmouth if any Account of the Arrival of the Fleet Spithead should Arrive previous to my return on Monday to Town; I need not add how very happy I shall be at seeing You, and as Your Brother Frederick who has now entered into the Military line will soon go to Germany for the sake of more compleatly learning those branches of knowledge which may fit him for the Profession his natural bent has dictated, I am desirous You should have an opportunity of taking leave of him; I trust Dear William that You as well as Frederick will apply Your self to Your Profession that the Sea as well as the Land Service may see not the partiality of a Father but merit in his Sons will be the cause of my putting in future command, into your hands. I ever shall remain Dear William

your most affectionate Father George R.
