6. Philip Succeeded to the Kingdom of note +A.1506 [[noteCastille on the death of + Isabella; his affability Generosity & Candour, made his memory respected, tho' he died the same Year of a fever; his Queen Jane beign Mad, Ferdinand who had resign'd this Kingdom, was REgent; a little before his death he alter'd his Will in favour of the Arch Duke his Grandson Charles, that the Kingdoms of Arragon & Castille & the Austrian Dominions might remain united. #A.1516. The Spanisards on Ferdinand's death would not at first acknowledge Charles their King, tis uncertain whether his not being not born among them, or whether his Mother Jane Isabella being still living, were the reasons for this demeer. Great confusion arose also in his other Dominions but all were quieted by the Wise Conduct of Cardinal Ximenez, whom Ferdinand had appointed Regent; which was confirm'd by unclear Charles.
