The Spanisards on Ferdinand's death would not at first acknowledge Charles their King, tis uncertain whether his not being not born among them, or whether his Mother Jane Isabella being still living, were the reasons for this demeer. Great confusion arose also in his other Dominions but all were quieted by the Wise Conduct of Cardinal Ximenez, whom Ferdinand had appointed Regent; which was confirm'd by unclear Charles.
