The Romans led by Julius Cesar conquer'd Gaul not so much by winning battles, as by fomenting divisions amongst those different States; they kept it above 500 Years, when dibilited by Vice & Luxury, the Goths made an irruption into Italy in the Reign of Honorius, & soon after seized Gallia Narbonensis & the Burgundians fix'd themselves in the part of Gaul now call'd Burgundy.
