underline Henry II /underline Among the rest he stripp'd William the son of Stephen of all that had been granted him by his father & left him nothing but what belonged to his family before Stephens accession to the Crown. This was contrary to treaty & a breach of faith: but the sequal of this Princes reign will shew that he paid very little regard to his word when it stood in the way of his intrest. After Henry had setled his affairs in England he crossed the sea to do homage to the king of France for the Provinces he held in that Kingdom which were as to render him almost deletion unclear /deletion addition as /addition power deletion as /deletion there as the Sovereign himself.
