As to the obligation of his oath he obtaind a dispensation from the Pope: such was the conscience and religion of those days! Henry being backed by the Popes authority immediatly resolved with his Brother and soon became master of all his fortified places and drove him out of the Country. fortunately for him the people of Nants not being willing to submit
