Novr. 22nd. 1722.

Having been ordered to attend Lord Townshend at his office at the Cockpit, I waited on his Lordship this Evening, who enquired whether I could furnish any Precedent or Hint relating to an Ambassadress lying in here; because Madame de Stahremberg, wife to the Ambassador from the Emperor had made a Demand to be visited by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales - Having carefully turned over all my Notes I assured his Lordship that I had not a Syllable relating to the matter; but had endeavoured to inform myself what had been done in two late Instances - viz- Madame Tron, wife to the Venetian Ambassador, and Madame Duyvenvoirden, wife to the Dutch Ambassador - As to the Dutch Ambassadress
