About this time a Bill pass'd both Houses for the Trial of Ld. Torrington to whom the House of Lords had refus'd his priviledge as a Peer; He was accordingly try'd the 10th. of Dec. Sir Ralph Delaval presiding, & acquitted of treachery & cowardice, that were both laid to his charge.

The Bill of Assessment pass'd the House, tho' not without a great deal of party caviling, that for doubling the Excise met with no opposition;

The King gave his Assent the 25th.
