(10) 62. If various quantities unclear others that are inversely as these may be found, by dividing unity, or the same quantity of each.

Thus 1/a, 1/b, are inverse unclear for 1/a:1/b::b:a. as is evident by multiplying unclear extremely, & means: for 1/a x a = 1/b x b, because each product equal to unity. In like manner the quantities n/a, n/b, are inversely as a & b.

63. The quantities 1/a & 1/b, are said to be the reciprocals of a & b, & b/a, is the reciprocal of a/b. Hence reciprocals multiplied together always produce unity for 1/a x a = 1, & b/a x a/b = ab/ab = 1. In numbers 1/3 is the reciprocal of 3 & to multiply by any quantity is the same as the divide by its reciprocal & vice versa.
