We therefore conclude from this induction yt. a addition constitution or /addition just Oeconomy of Human Naure, consists in a deletion proper /deletion addition regular /addition Subordination of ye. Passions to ye. Authority of Conscience & ye. direction of Reason.
yt. Subordination is regular, when defensive passions are proportional to our danger; ^ addition when /addition ye. private passions, ^ addition underline are proportion'd /underline /addition to our wants; & ^ addition when /addition ye. publick affections adopted to our connections, & proportion'd to ye. wants & dangers of others. This last Branch is differently express'd then ye. two first, yt. it may include our most important duty, viz. yt. to ye. Author of our Nature, who is Supremely happy & perfect, & consequently can have no wants to supply, & cannot be hurt by any change.
We call ye. natural State, or ye. sound vigourous constitution of any creature, or ye. just Oeconomy of its Powers, its Health & perfection, & ye. acting agreably to these, it Virtue or Goodness. therefore Man's health & perfection deletion
